Living
By The Word
By Dr. Alvonia

Scripture
Reference: Matthew 6:25-34
Focus
Verse: Philippians 4:6- “Do not be anxious about anything, but
in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present
your requests to God.”
In
light of an unstable economy, rising unemployment, and the fuel
and financial crises facing the United States, many Americans
are experiencing high levels of stress, as their future outlook
becomes dimmer. Even some Christians are worried that our nation
may be headed for an economic collapse.
No
one is denying that in the natural, things look pretty bad. This
is why believers must cling to the Word of God. We must see life
through eyes of faith. We must walk by faith and not by sight
(2Cor. 5:7). We
must not rely on what we hear, see, feel with our natural senses.
We must see God’s supernatural ability at work in our lives, in
every situation confronting us. Only then can Jesus’ teaching
about worry be manifested in our lives. In
our referenced text, Jesus warns us three times not to worry!
Why? Because God our Father cares for us and has promised to take
care of all who will put their trust in Him.
Believers
must respond to the negatives they encounter by digging deeper
into the Word to build our faith in the Most High God; spending
time alone with God , and calling on Him in prayer with expectancy
that He will supply all our needs according to His Riches in Glory
by Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:19)!!
