Our History

New Way Christian Church was born at New Way Fellowship Praise and Worship Center in Miami, Florida under the leadership of Bishops Billy and Catherine Baskin. Drs. Dennis and Mary B. Thompson served in many leadership capacities under Bishops Baskin, such as:

Bible Teaching Ministry
Associate Minister
Prayer Ministers
Evangelism and Outreach Leaders
Men's and Women's Ministry Leaders
Elders Ministry

Drs. Dennis and Mary B. Thompson served faithfully under the strong leadership of Bishops Billy and Catherine Baskin for 18 years. In June 2000, the Thompsons were sent off with the blessings of the Bishops and the Church to continue the work of the Ministry in Louisville, GA.

New Way Christian Church was incorporated as a Church in September 2002. The first Bible study was held in October 2002 in the Thompson's garage at 1120 Jefferson Blvd. New Way Christian Church moved from the Thompsons' garage to 313 Cook Street in Louisville, Georgia in 2003. The first service was held in the building on Cook Street in February 2003. New Way Christian Church was started with two members: Drs. Dennis and Mary B. Thompson. In the spring of 2004, Brother Charlie and Rev. Dr. Alvonia McCoy were the first visitors to become members of New Way.
